cloudy skies, sunny gingham

Well, thanks to some swimming pool pumps, our basement flood is down to puddles at this point. Everyone's well wishes, suggestions and shared-story comments were so appreciated!!! Thank you, dear friends.

The rain has stopped but it's still very damp and dreary. No wonder I have found myself crafting with cheerful gingham.

I have some gingham scrapbooking paper from a few years ago but lately it doesn't seem to be available at my local shops.

Because gingham paper is difficult for me to find, I save every scrap in a folder. This is a good step for the sometimes-wasteful-with-craft-supplies me.

Today while waiting for the gas company to come to check-out our basement (heater and pilot) I have been filling my Etsy shop with gingham. Now, was the guy supposed to be here between 8 and 12, or 12 and 4?

Wishing everyone the happiest of spring holidays

I am hoping The Ten Commandments will be on TV this weekend. A fave since childhood, just like chenille chicks. I have lots of blog-visiting to catch up on and hope to hop on over as soon as possible.

Oh, you know The Ten Commandments will be on. TCM will run it, I'm sure! Your gingham looks very cheery, my friend.

So happy you're almost out of the wet.

Is there a sump pump on the horizon?

I LOVE gingham! And I have wrapping paper in pink and blue that matches your cup! I found a couple of sheets of it at an outlet store here and I use it to make tiny giftbags for my minis.

Have a very happy Easter Elyse!

So glad to hear that your water problem is under control. Gingham is so cheerful isn't it? One year my sisters and I and two other friends all made matching gingham summer tops to wear. I have a picture ... I need to go dig it out...

Elyse, I'm so sorry to hear of your woes. You are right, the gingham papers are going away. I used to be able to still find them at Hobby Lobby, but recently they quit having it too. I wish you a very Happy Easter! Twyla

Those sweet colored ginghams are just what you need to get your mind out of the basement. hehe!

I'm glad the rain has stopped. Hope you were able to salvage anything important down there.

Here in Utah, we live in our basements...bedrooms, family room, etc. Do you live in your basements there, or are they primarily storage?

Have fun creating!

I have always been a gingham lover. Once I had a big old house with a garage apartment behind it, which I converted into a guest house. I painted the wood floors white. And then made different colored gingham curtains for each window: yellow, red, blue and green. You could glimpse the tree branches out the windows, and it felt like being in a tree house. It was so serene and pretty.

Hiya Elyse!

Good hearing most of the water is gone! :)

I LOVE gingham! So happy!!! I store the tiniest bits and pieces of paper in with full sheets - I spend hours looking for great papers, so every little piece is a treasure!

Wishing you and your sweet family a very wonderful Easter!

Oh Elyse,
I was thinking about you when I watched the news and hoping that you weren't effected by the floods. Sounds like you are taking it in stride and creating you way through it all. The best way of course.

Wishing you a beautiful and dry Easter weekend.

Hi Elyse, I also love gingham and would hoard every scrap. Another thing you can do is purchase small pieces of fabric and scan them. I've had good luck scanning fabrics. The texture looks real. On to more ideas!
