a creative connection

Boy, have I been missing blogging: the post-writing and the visits. As mentioned we have many projects going on in my household and I was just out of state for a few days to help with some family issues. However, today the slate was cleared to embark on a planned visit to the Antique Textiles Vintage Fashions Show & Sale with my dear friend Shellie.

Here's my little Shellie. You may know her as my friend who can sew (and can she ever). Shellie has attended this event before but thought of me when she discovered that Tinsel Trading was among this year's vendors.

The Tinsel Trading booth just sparkled with trims

and treasures.

left to right: Wendy Addison, me, and Marcia Ceppos

While overheard swooning over items for sale by Wendy Addison, Tinsel Trading owner Marcia Ceppos, who attended her booth, asked if I'd like to meet Wendy. GASP! Both women were so gracious and warm. I was thrilled.

• Wendy will be an instructor at The Creative Connection event this September in Minneapolis.

• I will be a guest blogger on The Creative Connection
blog (scheduled to run this Thursday)

ON WITH THE SHOW
There were 135 booths at the indoor event which kicks off Brimfield Antique Show.

Here are some photos I snapped before being reprimanded for taking pictures by a cranky vendor. {?!}

So (sew?) organized!

Items sorted by color always look wonderful.

I thought of so many blogging friends who I knew would just sigh over some of these things. {Lori came to mind immediately!}

I know many of you who would happily but gently remove each flower from these hats for artful purposes.

There were some non-textile items as well, like these delicate placecard holders, and the bathing beauties shown below.

It was an amazing fun-filled treat of a day.

Now it's time to do some blog hopping!

Thanks for the pictures. (Sorry you were scolded.) My friend and I discussed attending this event as I live next town over from Brimfield, in Palmer. But vintage is really not her thing and I didn't want to go alone. I love all that velvet picot edge ribbon. So... what did you buy?

Hey Elyse, I was so fortunate to meet the owners of Tinsel Trading when I was in NYC two years ago. They were moving their store and I got to go thru some boxes of stuff they wanted to get rid of! They were so nice. I went there before I started my fleurs so I would love to go again. Wendy Addison is so talented how fun to meet her!

Hope all is getting back to normal whatever normal is and that you can be around more, We all miss the heck out of you!

Oh, lucky, lucky you! Tinsel Trading! Remember our planned trip? I think we have to get cracking on that idea.

I would loved to have visited that show. So glad you and Shellie were able to make a day of it, especially after your tough weekend.

I hope Tinsel Trading Co. has a shop in Heaven. I think that's the only way I'll be able to visit. I have swooned over their online shop for years. Sigh. So beautiful. And you met (MET!!!) Wendy Addison & Marcia Ceppos. Double sigh.
Such a magical life you lead, sweet Elyse!

That looks like my idea of a really good time. I would find no one I know who would love this except for my daughter, thank God. My friends would say,"Tinsel What?" when I told them of my favorite store in the world. Slowly this is changing, through the blogs and conferences. I am meeting other square pegs like me! I am so happy.
Thanks...I really felt like I was there!
Hugs,
Suz

Thank you so much for coming to my blog, Elyse, and thanks for becoming a follower. Isn't this all fun? I love tinkering with paper and all sorts of things and hunting for treasures and reading people's blogs who like to do the same thing...it's a great little world!

Hi Elyse,
Thank you for being happy for me. Oh, I was at Brimfield's with my daughter yesterday. I met the art designer and one of the collections on tinsel trading. I got this amazing large bag of vintage flowers. I was telling her about the fashion show, I remembered reading about it on The French General. We only visited the corner tents over by the lemonade stand. I hope to go back again sometime this week. So much temptation, so little time. How wonderful that you met Marcia Cepos and Wendy Addison. I can only imagine what Tinsel 's booth looked like.

Well, I see we travel in kindred spirit land, yes someday we will write a travel blog together. Isn't New England grand?

Karen
P.S. Kaari Meng is having a book signing for her new book at Tinsel Trading on Saturday. She is also having an amazing workshop in the evening.

Hi Elyse,

Looks like a great fun show. If you ever hear of one in CT let me know please.
I was in the bookstore the other day and happened to pick up Romantic Homes mag and opened it up, said wow! those look like Elyse's drawers...then I saw that they were your drawers!!! how exciting for you. I bought the mag by the way so I could show everyone and say-hey I know her from blogging. How cool!!
