gather ye berries ...

Berry season is beginning to wind-down and I'm trying to make the best of the last of the season. As you may have guessed, it's not just the produce I enjoy.

I have always liked the simple containers commonly found at farm stands. Sweet as-is in their no-nonsense functionality, I decided it might be fun to print-out words on patterned paper and adhere them to the containers. I even gave one basket a coat of pink paint.

A quick stroke of glue stick to affix the paper to the basket followed by a coat of decoupage medium as a sealant was all it took to take these containers from the cart ...

to the table as holders of muffins and napkins.

What better way to celebrate the beginning of the end of summer ...

To make these muffins:
Corn muffin mix + fresh blueberries and raspberries

So cute Elyse! You know you are making big trouble for me! You had a post eons ago about using a little plastic clear container to use for a pretty display of goodies or some such thing and I started collecting those. Then I would look at other containers and think "Elyse would use this for some cute little thing".

I watched a few episodes of Hoarders on Netflix and think I am now one with all my little container collections! Yo-u may just have to call me in

Good Morning Elyse! Your little baskets are adorable. My farmers market keeps all of there baskets. They put the produce in bags for us to take home. So not nice ;)

Hi Elyse!! I have 30 of those little baskets...some the egg carton like material, and some are the old wooden kind...any ideas for those?? and what kind of paint did you use?? acrylic?? I LOVE what you did with yours..as always, you inspire!!

I love those cartons, and the pastel colors are so lovely. What a pretty idea to dress up so many things. These cartons filled with fresh strawberries used to be one of my favorite watercolor painting compositions.
