Hooray for rust, paint, and dolls!

I was going to begin tonight's post by saying that it's been a hectic week but then it occured to me -- IT'S ONLY TUESDAY! (LOL) I hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day. My guys made my day very special and I'm happy to report that all of my meals were either out or take-out!

For a few months I have been looking around for a wire shelf. Something a little rusty, maybe some chipped paint, to hold my jelly jars of supplies. Once an antique shop owner asked me what I was looking for and I joked, "I think I'm looking for something that doesn't exist!" And then I saw it holding flower pots outside at The Greenery . . .

As you can see, I bought it . . .

Then dry-brushed it pale aqua (because everything looks amazing when it's painted pale aqua), making sure to keep hints of rust showing. I finished the project by spraying it with a clear coat to seal it all in.

On Mother's Day my husband hung it up in the Girlie Office and yesterday I moved the jars in (or on?).

I love the chicken wire backing . . .

On a recent post at Laurie Star, the talented Laurie shows the most adorable clothespin dolls she made with her daughter. GASP! So cute and I noticed that one named Jane was for sale at her Etsy shop. No hesitation whatsoever and now the little Jane doll is mine, cheering by my side.

I love all of the thoughtful details from head to toe, front and back.

Along with my doll, Laurie also sent me pretty earrings and one of her Funky Flower pins. Be sure to check out all of Laurie's cute and colorful things at her Etsy shop, Trinkets NH. Tell her Jane sent you!

Hi Elyse! :) I LOVE the wire rack!!! My goodness, you find the best things! I so agree with you about the color aqua too :) The makeover you did on that is amazing!!

That doll is too cute for words. I will have to check her site out :)

Thank you so much for the compliment on my boys names :) I wanted really unique names and the nwith Ashton, That 70's Show with Ashton Kutcher came out like a month before he was born and everyone thought I named him after him, NOT! I had that name picked out months before. Isnt that weird? And now it is a "common" namr, lol! I LOVE being the mom to all boys too :) Being the Queen rocks!! LOL! I am so glad you had a wonderful Mother's Day :)

Hugs,
Amy

LOL ummmm no, we don't have kangaroos jumping around in the back yard!!! We mostly all live in the cities along the coast. Kangaroos keep away from all the hussle and bustle. I took the pics at a wildlife park on Phillip Island. Now they DO have kangaroos jumping around in the wild, but it's considered rural out there :)

Hi Elyse!
I don't know why it's taken us so long to find one another. I love your blog as well. Do you know that I live in southeastern MA? And that I have 3 sons. Hon, I think we have a lot in common. I'm sooo glad you left me a comment.

Hi Elyse

Thanks for dropping by my blog, i've just had a quick flick through yours, I will have a proper read later when my little man is in bed as it seems to be full of pure gorgeousness just like your Etsy shop. Love the little postal canvases, they really are lovely.
I see you live in Rhode Island, I visited there many years ago when I was 15 and even at that age I fell in love with the place.
((hugs))

Your wire shelf turned out sooo cute! The chicken wire adds a bit of country cottage charm! Yes, setting up a French Flea on Rhode Island would be great. In fact, taking the Flea on the road to different places across the country would be a BLAST! We could just jump around like a real "flea!" Of course, if you came with a U-Haul, we may not have enough treasures to endure a world-wide tour! Thnaks for stopping by.

Ok Girl, I'm really laughing at your remarks. First one Its only tuesday, when the week hasn't even ended. You sound like me, but I probably wouldn't of notice until much later. Second, the remark in the antique store. Your a riot! Anyhoo, I'm crazy about your shelf, and I do love the chicken wire. I might be adding that kind of wire in a cabinet I have in the bathroom.

You really made my day- I hope next time you can make me laugh like that again. I do believe I needed that. Take Care

Oh.my.gosh. Thou shalt not covet. Thou shalt not covet. Arghh! I can't help it! I want that shelf. I'm hoping it cost you 86 four hundred dollars so that I won't be too jealous. It's perfect. As is your paint job. What is your fave shade of aqua paint? Can I come play in your room with you? Hello to birdy! Hugs, Jen
