summer stylin'

I have been pitching DIY articles to Cottages & Bungalows magazine for some time now and guess what? I was recently assigned two pieces that will likely publish this fall. DREAMY!

Acting as stylist for do-it-myself photo shoots, I headed directly to Trader Joe's, home of beautiful flowers and produce at really great prices, in prep to style rooms for each article.

{Below are some of the photos I took that did not make "my cut"
and were
not sent along for publication.}

I recalled images from favorite magazines and things that Fifi did while she was here to style the kitchen, dining room and master bedroom. {Yep, there are those faux cherries from Target again}

I scurried about staging little scenes and vignettes.

I even wrote a couple of project tutorials and shorter sidebar pieces and am so curious and excited to find what will be used or not and how it will all be laid-out and look in print.

I even finally committed to the idea of how to use this piece of linen (hugs, huge thanks and dinner to Shellie) which will be revealed in the bedroom article.

I also wrote a Make It feature for the August issue of Romantic Homes. Not to rush summer or anything ...

Happy Summer!

Oh-and now I can say I knew you when! I love all your photos that didn't make it--can't imagine how good the ones that did make it are!

I was on the Cath Kidson site you sent me and tried to order the dishes but there was a glitch someone and it just went into a waiting mode and would not let me finish the order. I'll try again a bit later. I HAVE to have those dishes!!! I am so excited that they are avaialable! xo Diana

...and, happy first day of summer to you, too!=]

Speaking of diy - I have finally thought of the perfect thing to use your lovely clothespins for! Hooray! All this time, I had the need and the answer but - duh! - it took me all this time to put the two together.

Congratulations, Elise, on the upcoming publications. It sounds like a dream!

So, btw, I've been thinking about you and your boys and summer vacation. Today, is not only the first day of summer but, also, the last day of school!!! (It's late, this year, because of snow days.) I am wondering if you have any fun summer family plans. =] I think that s'mores are in our future.

Then, "you snooze you loose"! I've been trying to wrap my brain around a post (it's so hard, these days=() called "Pretty Messy"! ARGH! You absolutely beat me to it!!! Geesh!=]

Well, thinking of you...

Love, Katy xxo

I used to write for all of those publications but just plain old ran out of time. Heck, I hardly even get to read magazines these days!
