bazaar style

I have signed-up to be a vendor at the school bazaar again this year. It doesn't take place until early December but I've been in a slight panic about (1) having enough to sell and ...

(2) covering the $30 table fee.

None of my items cost very much so I will need to sell about a half dozen treasures to break even. (It'd be nice to have enough for a hot dog while spending the day there, too! LOL)

Of course, for me it's mostly about the fun of setting up the table and creating displays.

Notice that I have discovered labels? I've been visiting The Graphics Fairy a bit lately! Debi inspired this labeled jar idea. (Debi's not feeling so well so if you have a minute I'm sure she'd enjoy a get-better-soon comment at her blog, life in my studio.)

In other inspiring news, I am borrowing Selina Lake's new book Romantic Style from the library. What a GASP-n-SWOON fest! The cover makes me want to paint floors ...

but for now I'll just stick to cans (and hopefully the armoire soon)!

ps
The title of this blog post was borrowed from the lavishly beautiful Selina Lake book, Bazaar Style: Decorating With Market and Vintage Finds. I have actually spotted this book at HomeGoods for $5. Time to go back and get!

You will, for sure, have no trouble selling your tinkered treasures (I couldn't resist). Your jars are so beautiful. The ones you sent me are still sitting on my desk inspiring me.
I'm still working on the package for you. I know; I'm a shameless, little hussy. ;) Seriously, it's thisclose to being done. Ugh. I annoy myself.

Yes, yes, Elyse! The labels are wonderful on your jars. I would buy one in a second. I love the glitter glue. Is that the one that dear Julie/Vintage Chic uses (Platinum Stickles)? You once had a darling Bonne Mamam (?) jar which I missed grabbling. i would pay more for a French jars! What about covering composition books with your signature flowered paper and some kind of label?

Hugs,
Suz

Oh Elyse...If I were there I would have a hard time not wanting to buy your booth out! You will do great-I know you will. I plan on spending a day at the library in the next couple of days. I want to see if there are a couple of books that I think I might want to own for myself.

Have fun setting up..you will get to do multiple "set ups" as stuff leaves your booth...if you have time between customers! Hugs sweet girl- xxoo Diana

I like the way you are shabbifying the paint on your jar lids. Gorgeous. I really like your new label additions - in fact...I'm wishing I could be at that bazaar!

I was actually thinking of a trip to the bookstore so I could sit down with that book. It looks so beautiful.

Your newest tinkerings are lovely..I love the look of vintage labels on jars. I have a big box of jars in my basement waiting for some tinkering...so little time, so many ideas! I need to wrap up my banner making and move on to journals and collages!!
You better rent some railings for the bazaar so you can say "the line forms behind the railing".

Elyse,
Just had another thought. I have plain vigil candles on many occasions. I actually ordered them from a Mexican grocery once to use for a retreat. Your paper/style would be really nice. Tissue or handmade paper with this is really nice because of the transparency. On Valentine's Day, I used Japanese washi paper and origami hearts on the front.

The composition books were meant to be journals but could be many other things. I think it was originally a Teresa Macfayden idea. I put several colors of seam binding around the edges (tied in a bow) and a pretty tag that says "journal" (or whatever!). I also remember cutting out some pretty birds...and all sorts of layers...but I think your roses would be wonderful on both.

Just some quick and easy (but pretty cool result) crafts!!!

Hugs,
Suz
