flag day

This summer has been many things but it has not been crafty. So when I decided to quickly assemble some sandcastle flags for a trip to the beach, I was compelled to capture this short but blissful moment of creativity.

Simple as can be and splash-ready these colorful pennants are simple triangular snips from the sides of a shopping bag ...

that are glued from inside the fold to wooden toothpicks.

Because any castle no matter what size ...

becomes much more regal when festooned with a flag!

  3. Cute flags! Mine would be pink and my boys would say, "what?" Glad I stopped by...and I learned a new word: festooned!

  9. Very cute! It wouldn't surprise me one bit if you also starting creating sandcastle furniture as well. :-) My summer hasn't been terribly crafty either but it's time to get back in the doily factory and make some things. ;amy

  11. I love these little flags, and the colors that you used. What gorgeous photographs against the sand. I bet your boys loved this idea, and Mommy love always makes everything better, especially building sand castles in the sand.
