I wasn't looking for new hardware but when I saw some knobs on sale recently at Anthropologie, I grabbed a trio in two styles of palest pink glass, knowing I'd find a use for them someplace.

This plain cabinet tucked between the desk and a bookcase in the Girlie Office seemed like a good candidate for a 2-minute makeover.

Within minutes, a little transformation had taken place. It was like the furniture had switched basic post earrings for something special and fancy.
Fashioned like a slow motion splash,
watery glass lends a refreshing air
to stately chifforobes.
{Love this description of the Violette knob from Anthropologie.com!}

I added the final "earring" to the coffee table ...
From everyday elegant
to evening magnificent.
Eternally chic designs that captivate the eye
and illuminate your style.

Captivating! ;)
Now my "everyday elegant" pieces are ready to mingle with the likes of chifforobes, chiffoniers, davenports and chesterfields.
{How anthropomorphic!}

ReplyDeleteHow could you not buy those beauties for $2.95!? It's so great when anthropologie puts some of their knobs on sale...I am always compelled to buy them, even without reason. Love how the new jewelry looks on your furniture!!
ReplyDeleteI put an anthro (sale) flower knob recently on an end table and it just completely transformed the table in a matter of minutes! My kind of makeover!!
I'm with you it makes all the difference. When I have something in my booth that does not sell, sometimes all I have to do is change it's earrings LOL!

adorable shabby chicness.
ReplyDeleteHappy sunny summer to you too!
Brilliant post and brilliant use of words, my friend!=]
ReplyDeleteI love glass knobs - I do! My mom owns and old Craftsman style house in CA, where she's had a day care center for over 35 years, now. Deep, rich wood beams, wood floors, big stone fireplace and original glass door knobs. She, also, btw, has her doctorate in early childhood education - and has views on how children need dirt, roots, animals and rich, creative environments - we call her "Dr. Nana". but, wait! This is about glass doorknobs...
The transformation is perfect - like something out of a book or a magazine!
i found my coke bottle green crystal knobs onlinel they are the first thing people notice in my kitchen. "furniture earrings" is a perfect title :)
