le petit tiroir

I thought it would be a nice idea to make something small but sweet to have for sale at my vendor table at the Snowflake Bazaar. Something a little girl could buy for just 50 cents and be excited with her purchase.

I have been noticing creations using small matchboxes (Cari uses them to package her pretty earrings).

I really enjoy small projects like this. I wrapped each emptied box with paper and tied them with lace, adding a forget-me-not or bead here and there.

I added cabochons to a few and being the silly girl I am thought how fun (for me) it would be to call them something fancy and French like the little drawers.

I never studied French so I had to Google the translation for "drawer." And voila ~
le petit tiroir!

And merci beaucoup to all of my blogging friends. Where else could I talk about things like this and be so warmly understood? I sincerely appreciate that and hope you feel the same.

Bonne nuit mes amis (Good night my friends)

  11. Those are really adorable! But I was hoping for candy inside.
Also, I dreamt about you last night. So weird. I was teasing you about something cottagey. So I better not do it here!
You make me smile. But I do think you're a bit tapped with all the pink/lace and now French? Sheesh. I think living with three males is tipping you over the other edge. (okay couldn't resist teasing)
Oh and thanks for thanking me, but I had fun with the boys the other day. They were super sweet. So thank YOU!

  15. Are you kidding hat you are selling them for 50 cents???

They are too adorably cute, and took so much time to do all that sweetness!

There will be some happy little girls at that sale.

Now, how about making some for this big girl??

  30. These are so cute Elise! Soon you will become a miniaturist and make little tiny bureaus with those matchboxes.

Say, can you buy matchboxes empty or do you have to use the contents first? I use those kind of matches but they last awhile and thus take some time to collect.

  44. Elyse these are just precious and such a fancy little name in french you gave them!! What a fun little drawer to tuck a bit of money in for someone. I am thinking too that a bit of sting to hang them on the tree as an ornament would be fun!

This reminds me of the matchbox ornament I received from a friend as a wedding gift. It is covered in red velvet and is slide open and has the sweetest bride and groom inside!

I am working on getting 500 newsletters out - hope to be done by Monday then it's Elyse time- have your goodies mostly gathered but want to wrapped them and I haven't begun to find my papers and such!! THanks for your patience friend!
