I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed today thinking about all of the projects I want to tackle in 2012. Writing, tinkering, organizing, painting. Some projects I'll be starting, others finishing.

Before I get ahead of myself, I thought I'd just take a minute to slow down ...

and post some photos I took a month or so ago.

Of course this is the tinkered version of Snow White and the Seven+ Dwarfs.

Also known as a Cupcake Girl and Spool Sprites in "Tinkerese."
{Do you add a/your name to your photos? Sometimes I add my name, other times "tinkered treasures"}

I have always loved fairy tales and childrens' books and even studied illustration for a bit.
When I breezed by Rapunzel by Sarah Gibb at the bookstore recently, it was GASP at first sight. Luckily I added this lovely book to my Christmas list in the nick of time!

The retelling of the tale is wonderful and the images are absolutely beautiful in their detail.
Perhaps Snow White will soon have a fairy tale BFF (FTBFF?).
Another item to add to the list?! ;)

Hi Elyse,
ReplyDeleteI am your newest follower. Actually I thought I was already following you but realized your posts weren't coming up, so I made certain I am now. What a fun, lovely blog you have. I am so enjoying it and so glad I won't miss any future posts. I had to smile when I saw the words whistle while you work because I am dreaming up a project for a pillow or wallhanging that says those same words . . . I guess we all need a little magic in our lives! I hope mine will inspire me while I am working - if I ever get to it that is! Have a great new year, and it is so nice to meet you! Please come visit me if you ever get a chance!
Julie
Fairytale magic - a good way to describe your style! =]
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love children's books and illustrations. I'm so fascinated by them.
Good luck with your dreaming and planning for 2012. I have a dream....
I have a dream to blog about Christmas in 2012. I can only hope. sigh.
In the meantime, elyse, my mom and sister are toying with the idea of coming down to CT seashore area. We're looking for a fun, festive and beautiful adventure. We were talking about Mystic Seaport - too cold. Also, Newport, RI - we've been to the Gilded mansions already but, honestly, we're more, er, old fashioned? Colonial? Just plain cozy? The best part of the day in Newport was the fifteen minutes spent wandering around the old town - up and down the old streets - and oooing over all of the beautiful Christmas wreaths on the doors.
So, if you have a second to spare.... (eek) would you happen to have any ideas? I know that you know how to have a fun adventure! ;)
Happy New Year, sweet friend!
