making your mark



With so many beautiful books available, why not have pretty bookmarks, too?



These bookmarks are so simple to make.



- Bring pieces of your favorite fabrics to a copy center and ask for color copies on white cardstock
- Cut the printed cardstock into strips
- Trim the top and bottom with a pattern-edge scissors (optional)
- Punch a hole close to the top
- Loop a short piece of embroidery floss through the hole



Easy with minimal cost and a sweet idea when giving a book as a gift, too.

    Those are so Yummy Elyse !!! You can also iron your fabric to wonder under, peel off the paper and iron that to card-stock. ( Says one who is too lazy to go to the printers, lol !! ) Love that Yummy fabric though :) Hope you are doing wonderful !!!! :)

    Those bookmarks are so cute!!! Yes, everyone needs cute bookmarks. I never would have thought to have my favorite fabric photocopied onto white cardstock!!! Gorgeous. I also love the painted pink can that's holding them :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

    I love your bookmarks! If you have original artwork you want to turn into bookmarks, you can take it to the copy center and have them laminate it for you. Gives a bit of a shiny (alright, plastic) look, but they last. I have one from my daughter's first grade year (she graduated college last May) and I still like to use it.

    Fun to see the bookmark holder in your photo. Mine is on my work table holding colored pens! Thanks again.

    very pretty Elyse! I love that fabric/now paper. :)

    You can also scan your own fabric if you have a scanner and copy it your self! That's what I do now but never thought of it till someone came by my blog and told me!

    Your cute little book marks are just adorable. I wish I had thought of those when my kids were little and you are thinking up 15 little gifts for classmates. Or 400 projects at the Holiday Craft Workshop!

    Did I tell you have been asked to host a ladies retreat in my home in May? I am looking for some cute ideas to put in a little basket or bag for each lady. Bookmarks would be great!

    I need to focus on getting a few rooms textured and painted first. I don't think cute goodie bags would make up for them sleeping in patchwork walled guestrooms!

    I purchased the magazine and read your article. It is wonderful. I love that you name is on the front page of the magazine as contributing writers. And that Tinkered Treasures is featured too.

    You are a wonderful writer, and well, I think you sold a gazillion copies single handedly. My friend Joyce was saying that she is so thankful that you introduced her to this magazine. It is a gorgeous issue, and that aqua cottage is a dream.

    I love making bookmarks, but yours are so lovely.

    First of all, I must tell you, I had a heck of a time looking for Romantic Country Magazine! I searched every store in my town and the near by town, but came up empty handed! I went to visit my Mum in a town 230 miles away, and low and behold I found it! I ejoyed your artical so much!
